Romeo an Juliet: Broken Love

Dear Friar Lawrence,

       I hope you know that Mercutio and Tybalt have just died right after the marriage of Romeo and Juliet. You should have had them wait a while. You of all people know Romeo very well. You know that he is a hopeless romantic, an that he cat stand the sight of a beautiful women. They barley just met each other. You should have given it some more time, and if they got to know each other then
they could truly confess their love for each other. You might have invisioned unity in their marrriage, but that can wait a while. Can it not? You are Romeos mentor, give him advice. Now that they are together what are they gonna do now. Romeo is banished. Juliet is getting married. Again. One minute Romeo loved Rosiline, and the next  he is head over heels for Juliet. Please dont gave someone choose between their love and their family again. I want you to take your next procausions very seriously. Think them over 100 times if you have to. Think about the worst case senario  and then think your plan through. Marriage as much as anything else needs time an it takes a lot of mental thinking. Please give The both of then time alone an help them through what they are doing and their grieving. Next time I think what you should do when people fall in love is to make sure that they kmkw each other and are really happy about it. When you know someone is in getting into something that is risky please take precautions and take it slow.

The book We All Looked Up is about an asteroid that is about to hit Earth, and how it impacted the lives of the four high school students: Peter, Eliza, Andy and Anita. Peter is known to be the athlete of the school, and is aiming to go to stanford as athlete. Eliza is a slut. Andy is the slacker. While Anita is the overachiever. All these names are their labels that why have supported for the 4 years that have been attending high school. When news that of the asteroid was coming there were mixed reactions. Some people tried to ignore it by making a joke.  While others took it seriously and left their homes. Before news of an asteroid was coming these for seniors never really knew each other. They were just acquaintances. Peter and Eliza met each other when he went into her darkroom while she was developing photos, and ended up making out. Peter and Anita had known each other for a while because they were both on the student council, but never really talked to each other. Peter and  Andy met through his little sister Misery (her real name is Samantha) and Anita. Anita and Andy met during a party. Anita and Eliza met the same way. This asteroid changed their lives. They started doing what they actually wanted to do. Peter and Eliza maned up to the feelings they had for eachother. Anita and Andy started writing music with each other, But they only had such little time to it. The book We All Looked Up allows all the characters do what they have wanted to do their whole lives. To actually live your lives.

Anita is considered to be the overachiever. She always gets the best grades. There's also a rumor going around that she got into Princeton. Although she's a top student she wants to become a singer. “Ironically,she'd be standing in front f an open coffin at the time. It was her aunt's funeral, and Anita had been asked to sing “Abide with me” at the service- the one performance her parents had no excuse for canceling. Afterward, her uncle bobby had told her she ought to think about studying voice in college, Anita had laughed. ‘I don't think my parents would like that very much.’ ‘But you'd like that, wouldn't you?’ ‘I guess.’ ‘So do it. You can make your own decisions Anita.” She never did what she wanted to do because of her parents. She didn't want to disappoint them, but know it doesn't matter because she doesn't have that much time left to live yet make her parents happy. Andy was a slacker and a big one at it too. Andy has a passion for music too just like Anita. He is a musician, but not the type he wants to be. He plays in a band that plays rock music. He was playing with his band in front of the school once and at the end he played one of his songs on the piano which isn't like Andy. Everyone except Anita didn't like it, but he didn't care because he liked it.

This book shows people not to b afraid of who they want to be. People should take advantage of the time they have now rather than thinking they have their whole life to do so. These characters did what they wanted to do but didn't have time to branch out and explore it. Don't be afraid of what you want to do and time is precious so use it wisely.

The Thorny Rose

The book The Language of Flowers by  Vanessa Diffenbaugh is about a girl named Victoria and her life as she is at the age to marry. Victoria puts everyone she knows before herself. She is an orphan without parents, and has been moving from foster home to foster home her whole life. She thinks she brings hate, and a cursed life along with her. She meets many new people, and creates a new bond with them. She meets Elizabeth who is like a mother figure and a friend to her. She meets Grant who becomes very close with, and evidently become lovers. Victoria has never settled in a place, she has moved from place to place a number of times. She went to court because apparently she lit a fire in the house she was staying at. She was forced to go to court because of her lawyers. She ended up running away because she didn't want to hurt anyone especially Elizabeth, because at the time Elizabeth was her caretaker, and Elizabeth would get blamed for everything that Victoria did. Before the case started Victoria ran away. She later turned herself in without anyone knowing and went to jail. When she was in jail She tried writing to Elizabeth when she was in jail to apologize for what she did. She used up so many papers but none of them were going into her letter. They were all drafts of what she was going to write, and in the end her letter ended up being one sentence. Later on when she got out of jail she lived with Elizabeth and got pregnant with Grants baby. She was oblivious to the fact that she was pregnant, but she was vomiting up in the morning in the shower until the drain was clogged. She tried to keep the fact that she was vomiting a secret until one of her roommates told her she was pregnant. She herself didn't know and when her roommate told her she tried keeping it a secret from everyone including Grant. Once she started to started to avoid and start to disappear from the lives of the people that were close to her. Once her baby was born she gave the baby to the baby's father and left. Life is like a rose, There will the beautiful times as well as the rough thorny times. The thorns of a thorn make it whole, but plucking the thorns off and only revealing the the beautiful is never perfect. Victoria thought of herself as the thorns thus making her the problem. When removing the thorns the rose is now beautiful, When removing her the lives of the people around her now makes their lives beautiful and perfect, but what she didn't realize was without her her loved ones didn't like it. They wanted her back. They wanted the thorns back.

Victoria leaves the ones she loves because she thinks she's doing what's best for them. “An hour later I reached for my last paper. Balled attempts littered the room all around me. This one no matter what would have to do. The pressure of the final sheet made my hand shake even more, and my handwriting looked of that of a young child, unsure of the shape of each letter…. still, I continued slowly, purposefully finally I succeeded in the thing out a single line. ‘I lit the fire. I'm sorry I've never been more sorry”. Victoria was never proud of herself for what she did, but she was always afraid of telling the truth. It's not right to lie, but when she kept her mouth shut she was either lying or telling the truth but all this caught up to her. She felt ashamed for what she did and tried to run away. She turned herself in because she didn't want to be a nuisance to the people around. Victoria left her baby with the father and she ran away from their lives. She didn't want to become an obstacle for her child or for anyone around her. That's just she thought. Victoria was going to make their lives easier if she wasn't there. She was the type never to settle in a place. I think she did that because she thought she never belonged. Although she thought that everyone wanted her in their lives. Grant named their child Hazel because her name meant reconciliation, and he thought that hazel would bring Victoria back to him. In the end Victoria has thanksgiving dinner with her child for the first time with Grant and Elizabeth.

In conclusion, Victoria thought she was the problem when she wasn't. She's like the thorns on a rose. The rose is a beautiful flower, and is thought of like that once its thorns are plucked. Her life is like a rose. It had its ups and downs. She thought she was the problem and by removing her everything will be perfect. The only flaw was everyone wanted the “problem”. Life is like a rose. People have their thorny times and their rosy times. Life isn't perfect, It can't be the rose that will stay in bloom forever. The flower bloom with the rose. The thorns help make the flower perfect, but are plucked off because they are an imperfection of the flower. People shouldn't look down on life. Life isn't perfect. We can't have the picture perfect life or the the life we want. Those times we don't like are like those thorns but the more you climb something better will come up. We eventually find the beautiful rose, but that doesn't last forever there are more thorny  times. Those rough times make your life whole. People's struggles help them become better people. Without those rough times people would know what that rose or happiness is. There will be thorny times as well as rosy ones.

    Sometimes people try to change themselves because people start to judge us. In the Golden Time by Callie, Callie writes about her past and how it effects identity. She explores this idea, with using her brothers experience, her own expericence, as well as books. We tend to based on peoples opinions. Our identities shape who we are as we'll as our lives. We are each different individuals and its what makes us different from one another.
     Starting with Callie's brother experience. "Tue Chiconos from whom my brother sought  acceptence.... Everyface I saw near my brother brought back old pain, that old distrust, and the fact that these people were rejecting my brother." Her borther later becaome a spanish major in college abmnd learned the language and everthing, but hispanic people still didn't think of him as his one of them because he wasn't born that way and they didn't treat him resectfully. Her brother wanted to fit in so badly that he learned everything that was expected of him in irder to fit in,  but it didn't lead him anywhere. Furthermore, she goes on to talk about biographys. " There are a lot of identity narratives... when I talk about identity narratives, I an speaking of the accounts that tend to come from people my age, stones races that upperclass adults and their children are always running.... I am speaking of narratives who's purpose is the composition itself. Callie doesn't write for others but for herself. Not everyone would think highly of her ir her work because of her skin color. Finally, Callie ends with identity is only used to please others. "Certainly the idea of identity creation for profits sake is not a new one, or even that should cause alarm. We all wish to impress our friends strangers to get free drinks, to perform well during a job interview we all benefited from the use of the brave face in times of hardship the cheerful persona . For the periods of depression the compassion act the face of other lossesThey are the lives that sustain families and society. Read your book with you want me to order to compress others we do it to look better than if someone's identity book can be made from money depending on if someone read or lack of money so so they think that the character in the movie is the actual actor actress but in reality they're not like living in a movie will ship these two characters and then we'll end up sleeping then enter in reality the only way to impress others and to make a feeling today we put up an act so if sheilds us from from what other people would think of us.
     In conclusion, we try to be something or someone that we're not because you don't feel comfortable in your own skin because of the people that are around us or the area that we live in the blood results from people that are right in front of us but who wanted you wanted to buy a different by different people identities interesting word people might refer to identity as a personality but not too much race or religion we don't realize how much that plan into opinion until until we actually talk to someone about it we all put up an act to satisfy the ones around us whether love one of their loved ones friends teachers or strange on the blocks. We put up the wall so people don't see the real life so hard to be "normal"  that we cforget the fact that perfect doesn't exist you are perfect you. Normal doesn't exist because we're all different also named Eric changes from rest of the world and trying to impress someone so much to change yourself isn't worth it and we should always be happy and be comfortable around skin there was people that make you feel like an outsider in the world but that person might like an outsider themselves because they're different from others relax you live in a diverse communitylike  America, so being  different doesn't matter, so don't change yourself to be somewone else. Just be you.

We all tend to judge each other. It's not so visible at first, but we grow opinions based on what people told us or on  what we see at first glance. In Dash and Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan Lily leaves a red notebook on her favorite bookshelf at Barnes and Nobles, Dash is the first person to pick up her book and actually read it. This started the dares as well as stories and personal things about each other that they would send back and forth through this book. They would leave the book all over New York City. Things started to escalate, and Dash and Lily got really close through the book. Though they got close through a book they don't know everything about each other, or so they think they do. When Dash and Lily meet each other Dash is quick to judge because of Lily's actions. When meeting someone we tend to have a first impression of them, but that doesn't necessarily represent who that person is.

     In the beginning if the book when Dash picks up the book he reads Lily's dares and the note the left behind Lily seems a bit more confined and awkward, and in reality she more confident and outgoing because she's very cheerful and doesn't really care about other people's opinion. In the red notebook Lily says “If you ask Mark any questions about me he will not pass you the note. So no questions”, Lily seems more awkward here, but in reality she's like a unicorn full of light. “I love Christmas...the lights, the cheer, the big family gatherings, the cookies…”. Lily seems like a complicated person because she acts like two different people. People might find this weird but that's what makes Lily more interesting. Lily is someone who has more than one face, there's more than what meets the eye. This doesn't necessarily mean Lily’s true self is either in a notebook or how she is with her friends, it just means Lily is multi-faceted, she has many sides or faces to her.

      Dash is also like Lily. He acts differently in the book rather than with other people. In the book Dash seems like an open person and someone who's out of the box or thinks outside the box. In Dash and Lily's book of dares Dash says “My name is a connector of words...the truth is, I’d love to remain if only a little longer”. Lily doesn't know Dash's name because he never mentioned it in the book, so when he asked him what his name is he said this. Instead of straight out telling Lily  name she used a riddle. With people Dash acts “normal” “Really he said,...I'm not guessing.” Lily and Dash are similar. There's more than one side to them. At first he seems like Lily, someone who is confined. Dash has a complex personality because these not just one but many sides.

     When Dash and Lily meet face to face for the first time they were both shocked, but Dash was quick to judge. Dash judged so quickly because Lily was drunk. “‘Dash?’ he asked confused. This boy Dash, apparently looked at me strangely. ‘Is that our red notebook over there?’ he asked me…. ‘Your name is Dash?’” (Lily's perspective). “‘What a wasted girl. What a wasted hope....the whole thing was silly”. When Dash saw Lily drunk it changed his view on her because it's not of what he had originally thought of Lily. Around the end of the book both Dash and Lily get into jail and stay there for a while, and when they get out they separate but Lily put the red notebook into his pocket. Dash says “sly girl, she slipped me back the notebook”. Though Dash wanted to stop the notebook letters and dares, Lily wasn't done. I think Lily didn't stop because that was just one part of her that Dash saw, it wasn't who she was at her best. Lily was able to prove that when she was in the jail cell. I don't think Dash wanted to stop with the dares, it was just how she was at that point that changed him.

     I hope people can learn that we all shouldn't be quick to judge. Dash and Lily both had many sides of themselves, but when Dash first saw Lily he did judge based on what he saw. When the two of them were in a cell they got to know each other a bit more, and Dashed realized that Lily is not the type of person to get drunk all the time. People have different faces, but judging by one doesn't help.

    Shadowhunters, demons, vampires and witches, there all found and fantasy, the supernatural, the things that people find impossible, the beings that are only found in books and movies. What happens when you see these things all around you and there not explainable. Your mother goes missing without a trace. If yes, then you can relate to Clarrisa Fray or otherwise known as Clary.It might not be direct, but it can be indirect. Teenagers can relate to her Clary because she goes through things that are very new to her because of her new experiences, whether it's a new school boyfriend friends etc. Clary goes through some new experiences and at first she doesn't believe what's going on right before her eyes. She was disillusioned at first but slowly began to understand. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare shows teenagers that they are not going to know everything and they are going to go through new things that don't make sense for now, but later they will.  
    Sometimes teenagers won't make sense what's going on around them and they won't make sense of it, teens tend to freak out when these things happen. When Clary sees shadow hunters for the first time she didn't know they were shadowhunters rather they were regular people, but when she saw Isabelle, Jace and Alec about to kill the person with the blue hair, she was shocked that nobody saw this and it didn't make sense. “‘Simon!’ Clary shouted and seized his arms. ‘What? I'm not really sleeping with your mom you know.’ ‘Do you see those guys?’ The girl shot her an evil look. ‘Sorry,sorry’. She turned her back at Simon. He squinted and said ‘don't see anything.’” Things that other people couldn't see was visible to Clary. Teenagers might see things differently than others. Again, this experience isn't something that can be directly relatable to because this has to do with the supernatural. Clary saw something that nobody could see, some teenagers might see something that they see but when they ask their friends they say they didn't see anything. This doesn't necessarily mean that what you saw wasn't there just because your friend didn't see what you saw.
       Teenagers tend to think they're right all the time. Clary started seeing the “supernatural” during the party she and Simon went to. This happened because Clary’s mother,Jocelyn had Magnus (a warlock) to erase her ability to see the “supernatural”, and he would do this every two years but he missed the last time he was suppose to  it again. Clary couldn't believe that her mother did this to her. “‘The way who wanted it?’... ‘your mother’ he said ‘My mother did this to me?’ Clary demanded, but her surprised outraged didn't sound convincing to her own ears. Looking around she saw the pity in Jace’s eyes… ‘Why?’ ‘I don't know’ Magnus spread his long white hands. ‘It's not my job to ask questions. I do what I get paid to do… ‘Was it only once’.... ‘I don't think you understand.’ Clary didn't think her mother would keep such a big thing from her. Her mother took the life she was suppose to live away from her, Her mom took away her birthright.  Magnus only did what he was suppose to do.
         Most teenagers have lots more questions when they become teens. Parents usually get to wing it when their teens were younger,but they are not as gullible as they were when they were younger. The truth eventually comes out during these years. Clary never knew who her father was. She thought it was Luke because he's been with her since she was a little girl, but Luke would constantly deny it. When she learned that she was a shadowhunter, she learned new things about herself including who her real father is. “‘My mother is alive?’ ‘she is’ said Valentine… ‘Yes’ he said cutting off Jace before he could speak. ‘Jocelyn is your mother Jonathan. (Jace’s real name is Jonathan and Valentine is his dad). Valentine loved Clary's mother and had a son and a daughter. The son, Jonathan or Jace  and the daughter Clarissa or Clary, so Clary and Jace are siblings. Valentine is Clary's father. Clarys question about who her father was was answered and in the process she learns she has a sibling. The questions teens have can be answered in weird ways maybe not a long lost sibling but the questions of who my real parents are are answered.
       Becoming a teenager  excited most pre-teens becoming teens. They get to go to the movies by themselves. Watch pg 13 movies. As well as more freedom. So teens start to think they are right, but life isn't fully complete when you become a teen it's when you die. Clary thinks she's normal but finds out she's the “fantasy” which includes vampire witches and demons ect. She is not someone who has magic but who kills the bad beings with magic. She finds out that her mom kept who she is from her and she finds out her father is Valintine. I hope many teens learn from this because they go through the same thing clary goes through. It's not direct rather more indirect. Learning new things that don't quite make sense in the beginning isn't a bad thing because we learn from these experiences and those “hallucinations” that we think we see because no one else saw it is fake but in reality what we saw was real.

Summer Reading

Hi, my name is Fawziyah. I read books sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love to read, but sometimes I don't have the chance. I harder now because I have SHSAT test prep, and its like I have it the whole week because I have test prep at school and outside of school. the whole week. If I don't read one day I'll read more the next day. I read book that have a lot of adventure and action and mystery but I also like to read classics and some romance books. I don't necessarily have a favorite genre. I will read any genre but, I won't read non-fiction unless there memoirs, auto biography and biography's and stuff like that. This summer I read 2 books during this summer. I read, Along for the Ride, The Fault in our Stars, and Ruined. 

The book Along for the Ride is about a girl named Auden and the summer before she went off to collage. Auden is the type of girl who is always about studying and shes all about her education. Auden grew up like an adult so she really never got to experience being a kid. Auden grew up a safisicated life style, per say.  During that summer a lot of that changed. Auden was going to her dad's house because her parents slit up and her dad remarried and had a baby girl named Thisbe. Before she got to her dad's house Auden's mom told her that she doubted that her dad was helping Heidi (Auden's stepmom) with Thisbe. Auden's mom told Auden that her dad never helped her mom with Auden or her older brother. When Auden got to her dad's house, she realized her mom was right.Heidi is a very cheerful happy person, but when she got to her dad's house Heidi looked tried and warn out. Her dad would come home and go into his office on the opposite end of their house across from the baby And he would stay there most of the time. Auden became friends with Maggie, Esther, Leah, Jake and Adam. Then she met Eli. He was older than her, he's Jake's older brother. He is great with babies and they run into each other a lot and things progress. Eli is like a tour guide and he kinda tells her about how the area is. Auden learns everything is not about book and collage and studying. 

Another book I read this summer was Ruined. This book is one of my favorite books. This book takes place in New Orleans. Rebecca is staying in New Orleans for a year while her dad is at a business trip in China. She's staying with her aunt Claudia, who isn't her real aunt. She ends up going to a snooty prep school with rich people. The girls that go the prep school doesn't  really like Rebecca, especially Helena Bowman. She meets a girl named Lisette in the cemetery and she tells most of what there is to know to New Orleans. The only thing is Rebecca isn't suppose to go the cemetery. There's another thing. Lisette is a ghost. Rebecca   learned that there was a curse on the Bowman girls. On a Bowman girl wont see the day she turns 17.
